![]() How did you think we were just going to let it escalate?įS: Well, I'm glad that threat is over. RY: Honestly, darling, we all saw the potential from a mile away. You didn't plan any hijinks for the princess's visit? You put all your effort on the parasprites? TS: So, what else did you have planned this session?ĪJ: Oh, come on. Guess I better get to work on that guest comic, what with the arc ending so soon. We get away, but not a single target was even found in that building. Somehow in two combat rounds (each round is 3 seconds long), the "dragon" flies away in a chopper and all the mooks are attacking us with AK-47s. Static Shock (DC hero) ties up the elevator system, forcing the "dragon" to use the stairwell, which has two armed heroes ready to capture. At the same time, The Great & Powerful Trixie (from MLP) heads up the stairwell to corner the "dragon".Ĥ. Fox McCloud (from Starfox) climbs down the roof stairwell access towards the "dragon". River Song (half time lord) cuts the target building's communication lines. Not a big one, just enough to set the car on fire and get the fire department out.Ģ. Paul (the gray alien) sets off a car bomb two blocks down in front of a hotel. The team knew the "dragon" of the BBEG was in a Shareholder's meeting in a 30-story bank building. No, more like he just sets the derailed train on fire and assumes we'll be happy about watching loot burn. The GM I'm under always derails the derailing plans, but not in any way that gets that train back on the tracks. That is very unfair, especially to the creative types that actually went that route to publish an interesting idea, rather than backdoor through a Tim Taylor abomination.Īs a player, preparing for any kind of upcoming combat situation is largely a waste of time. I know it is wrong to feel this, but I have this instinctive urge to permanently scar anyone that ever tells me they submitted crunch content to the online version of Dragon magazine. The books are bad enough at times, but when you have people bringing in Dragon Magazine content that completely ignores standards set for items (such as the blasting rod, granting heroic tier characters the property of resist 10 to two elemental damage types where the standard is 5) or classes (when every print source for a warlock hexblade has it attack AC, the online variation should not be attacking Reflex). What I don't enjoy is learning that WotC has put all of this crap I never want to see in a game into its online character builder, stuff that makes the guy who picked up the books for quite a few dollars more ask, "Why did I even bother?" I apologize, as I suspect I communicated my point as clearly as the view through a granite cliffside. Twilight Sparkle: …to take out the last parasprite with Magic Missile! Twilight Sparkle: I get an extra standard action, which I use… So now the only remaining parasprite flies off… They’re just minions right now, so they go down instantly. Twilight Sparkle: No, it’s just direct damage.ĭM: Right. Twilight Sparkle: With my standard action and my move action, I use Magic Missile on two of the parasprites! 8 damage each. I activate Wizard’s Fury! It’s a Daily that lets me use Magic Missile as a minor action until the end of the encounter.ĭM: Is it free? Hmm, no, it’s a minor action to use. …Alright, the three parasprites move AFTER Twilight. You’re gonna let them do this?įluttershy: Well, um, I did kind of cause this… and they seem to know what to do, so I trust them…ĭM: Rrrgh. Twilight Sparkle: I’m attacking! Rolling for Initiative.ĭM: Really? You’re gonna make me break out the combat stats this soon?ĭM: Fluttershy.
